Bo-Qi ng Xu is a Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University and fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society. He completed his doctorate in physical chemistry of heterogeneous catalysis as a jointly educated Ph.D student of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Hokkaido University (Japan) in 1988. After working as a research associate at DICP for three years, he joined the faculty of the School of Chemical Engineering at Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and became a full Professor in 1992. After three years working in USA as a visiting scientist at the Catalysis Center in Northwestern University and a research associate at the School of Chemical Engineering in Georgia Tech, he was invited to join the faculty of his current university. His research interest mainly focuses on heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable chemistry in energy conversion, and production of chemicals and materials. He has authored 270 peer-reviewed papers and owns 30 patents. He serves/served as an associated editor of Carbon and Hydrogen (2024 -) and ACS Catalysis for six years (2014 - 2019), and has/had been an EAB member of a number of scientific journals including Chinese Journal of Catalysis, Applied Catalysis A, ACS Catalysis, Catalysts and Current Catalysts, and an international Advisory Board member of the International Acid-Base Catalysis Group and many international conferences. He has received a number of awards in China, including Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education and National Catalysis Award of the Chinese Catalysis Society.

Dr. Pu-Xian Gao is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn). His research focuses on bridging the gap between fundamental nanomaterials science and engineering and practical applications in fields such as energy, environment, and biotechnology. Professor Gao has received several honors, including being a founding member of the UConn Chapter of the National Academy of Inventors (2017) and induction into the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) in 2017 for his contributions to nanomaterials research. He was awarded the United Technologies Corporation Professorship in Engineering Innovation at UConn in 2015 and was recognized at the Boston Patent Law Association's Invented Here! Event in 2014 for a patent. His accolades also include an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship (2013), the Outstanding Faculty Award from UConn's Department of Materials Science & Engineering (2013), and the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from Beijing University (2012). Pu-Xian Gao's research group is dedicated to translating scientific discoveries into practical nanotechnology and collaborating with industry for scalable manufacturing and commercialization.
